Rules: Shooting Overview (Ver 0.15)

Sandwyrm here. In continuing to work on the shooting rules, I've broken up the sections some and will be revising what I did in my last post. This is the overview, which fleshes out the first part of the last post better, and introduces things more cleanly. But it doesn't have a lot of specifics, which will come later.

Shooting Rules: Sequence And LOS (Ver. 0.1)

Here's the first part of the Shooting section, covering the basic sequence and the LOS rules. I especially want to know what you think of the rules on elevated positions.

Concept: How Should Artillery Work?

Fire Of The Guard Artillery, A. Blinkov
Sandwyrm here. Rest assured that I'm working on the shooting rules, but my kid had to go to the hospital last night, and my morning was spent at the doctor's office, so I wasn't able to get the first part of that done enough to post. However, Exgunner posted a very interesting comment to the Air Support post on how he thinks that Artillery should work. So hey! Let's discuss it! I like thoughtful ideas from new people. He brings some actual artillery experience to the table.

What Might An M42 Knight Army Look Like?

Shout, Kerem Beyit
Sandwyrm here. As I said last week, I had something of a revelation at my first Flames of War tournament. Where the points and size of the force I could take was (to my thinking as a 40K player) much smaller than I was comfortable with. But after 5 games in 2 days against a variety of opponents, where I did pretty well, I feel VERY confident now that we can make a smaller-sized 1000-1200 (In 40K points) game that works, is fun, and which be tactically superior to a 2000 point 40K experience.

Concept: Air Support

IL-2, S. Tsvetkov
Sandwyrm here. Aeria Gloris asked about how air support might be done properly. So I'll share my thoughts on the matter. Even though I don't see aircraft or artillery being in the first version of the rules.

Well... That Didn't Take Long

Back To School, Henri-Jules-Jean Geoffroy
Looks like the only Army I can play 6th Edition 40K with can't be played due to a rules question that can only be answered with another FAQ. Time to get back to the project, I guess.

We're On-Pause: Relax And Enjoy 6th For A While

Signe & Henriette Reading A Book, Carl Christian Constantin Hansen
Sandwyrm here. The 6th Edition 40K rules are out and are, I think, worth studying in detail for at least a few weeks before we do much more on the project. Depending on how good/bad the new rules are in play, we may continue M42, cancel it, or (more likely) simply change our design focus in response to 6th Edition's particular shortcomings.

We'll see, but it's going to take some time to process properly, as 6th is quite complex. Don't expect regular posts until we've torn this edition apart and studied it's innards. :)
