Tanks, Armies, and Scale

Tank Battle on Belhamed, Peter McIntyre

Eriochrome here again with more discussion on game scale this time with an emphasis on Tanks.  I saw this picture on Fritz's great Way of Saim Hain blog (now Fritz 40K) which pretty much showed me exactly the reasons we are trying to go the way we are.

6' x 4' Tables, Scale, And Seconds Per Turn

Gulliver's Travels, John Walker
Here's some more stuff on scale that I've been working out. Such as... How big is a 6' x 4' table in 28mm scale anyway? And how far/fast are our little plastic soldiers really moving?

Reworking Shooting A Bit

Gunfire Shadowgram, Gary Settles
Man, am I getting tired of taking kids to doctors! Anyway, while I have some time to think, here's some ideas for where I want to go with shooting.

Ok, I think I may have finally cracked the weapon range issue in a way that appeals to me. Let me know what you think of my solution.

Quickie: Some Thinking On Evasion

I'm currently working on coming up with meaningful stats for our test force. As part of that, I did some thinking on our Evasion mechanic. As in, what should each level of Evasion represent?

Reworking Leadership A Bit

Sandwyrm here. I've been giving some thought to how we might make our Leadership tests more reliable, and I think I've come up with an interesting solution.

First Test Scenario And Terrain Layout

101 Views of the Sandias #9: Rain Dance
Sandwyrm here. As part of our testing packet, I figured that I ought to come up with a basic objective scenario and a standardized terrain layout standard of some sort. Let me know what you think of this.

Test Army Assembly: The Laans Force

The Final Push through the Rumayiah Oil Field, Mario Acevedo
Sandwyrm here. I couldn't go to the store and do another round of testing with CaulynDarr today because of a nasty cold. But the postal service did show up with the 2 Dark Vengeance box sets that I traded Hulksmash for. So I started assembling proper M42 test forces from them.

Our First Real Test Game

Drink Test Dummy, Leah Saulnier
CaulynDarr and I pushed around some models in a couple of test games last night. Each of us had 2 squads of Guard Infantry and a unit of 3 Knights. Here's what we discovered...

Ping: Anyone Still Interested?

M. Kugach, Coming back
Sandwyrm here. Interest in the project dropped off quite a bit after 6th Edition was released, and since I was pretty busy with other things (Travel, Gencon, Kids) I was happy to take a break for a while. But the kids are back in school now, and I'd like to get back to work on the project... If anyone is still interested, that is. So what say you? Do we continue? Or is 6th 'good enough'?
